Office communicator not updating my status

How to See the Status Message Screen Status messages can be seen at any time, even if the phone is still booting up, or not registered.
See process below for seeing them on the 794x//796x series IP phone.
Even changing the status message in Lync manually did not work; it was immediately reset to the one set up in Outlook.
Closing and reopening both Lync and Outlook had no apparent effect.
I discovered that if I manually activated the Oo OA and then manually deactivated it, Lync was once again properly synched up with Exchange and the red asterisk and status message reverted to their default states.
The problem I had was that even when the end time had passed and Outlook’s feature had been turned off automatically, Lync’s feature remained on., but it was a technical problem I had with Lync that does not appear to have been documented, based on my searches. In an enterprise environment where Microsoft Lync is integrated with Exchange, Lync has an indicator that shows if your Out of Office Assistant (Oo OA) in Outlook is turned on.Note that the status messages displayed will vary slightly depending on the model of phone that is being used.
This post focuses on the 794x/796x series, as that is most likely what you will see on the Cisco CCIE Voice lab exam currently.
It can be extremely difficult to determine whose task has priority, and often, with only 2 days a week in the office, I realistically cannot get tasks done with less than a week’s notice.
